You know, just by proximity, I would gain the lyrical quality to jam with the audience, and speak their very deepest thoughts, through poignantly executed prose. But here I sit, slack. bent over. cheek to key board, arms slack at my sides. having a bit of performance anxiety. You see my blog is a bit more designery-visual. More image heavy than written heavy content. Honestly, there's nothing really touching about velvet sofas {figuratively of course}. Few, wipe bleary, tear filled eyes as they comment on, the over use of coral as a design element or whether the subway tile has run its course.
I think the best advice I can give myself today is, don't try to do another's work, do what you know. And so, if you've come here, to laugh, to cry, to group hug. I can't really give you that.
But at the very least I can invite you to join me on a little visual garden-party tour to get you ready for summer......

i got so super excited when i heard beachbungalow8 was guest blogging.
you make being a rock star look easy, lady!
BLESS you. I'm backstage, now getting drunk with the roadies.
thank you for the garden party tour - it was beautiful and inspiring for one looking to fix up her own backyard!
I think you should get an award for being first up at bat. You did an awesome job, and of course the pictures are gorgeous. Maybe not the one of the guy with butt belly--but sometimes hilarious trumps gorgeous.
I'm so inspired for summer now - thank you. Thanks also for stepping up to the bat. You did not disappoint. It's one day past our Canadian Victoria Day Holiday here and I so did not want to go back to work today. So, I didn't. Instead, I enjoyed the sunshine in the backyard yearning for garden parties. Now I'll have to get working on the decorating for said party. Thanks for the inspiration!
I had dinner on Heather Taylors gorgeous patio just last night. Viva summer!!!!!!!!
Thanks for posting this pic of my patio! they're all so gorgeous!
Wow - you really kept this one a secret!!!!!!! Congrats!!!
I like Susannah's commentors. Such a supportive group! Jules really walked me through this one. big hugs there.
Holly, thank god I gave you credit!! i couldn't remember where I found some of those shots. LOVE your home and the next time you and Annie have a get together, remember I'm not far and can totally bring the guacamole or wine or both.
Gorgeous post!
P.S. I had to look up "sycophantic". Seriously. Don't judge me.
Can we have a group hug anyway, even though you really don't do that? 'Cause these garden images just made me feel all happy and dreamy. And huggy. Thanks for guest-hosting!
You done good. It's all lovely, even though it reminded me how I'm neglecting anything that's not breathing or rooted in the dirt.
Your first visual was priceless! I enjoyed your garden party tour. Thanks for that:) And I think you make a fantastic substitute rock star!
GROUP HUGS!!! I'm a total sucker for the hugs.
Zakary - when you live in L.A. 'sycophantic'can be used often and always. It comes in your "moving to LA starter dictionary" it's the polite way to say "star f**ker" Isn't it an awesome word?
thank you, my fellow guest bloggers, I cannot wait to see what you guys come up with. I know they'll be super, non-sweaty, rock star posts.
Good job, BB8. If memory serves me, you introduced me to O.G. Petunia Face with the post about her mother ages ago. I can still see in my mind's eye the snapshot of her mom in the setting sun in the 60's/70's at some swingin' outdoor party. I was hooked.
Quid pro quo.
And look, you avoided the wrath of Anonymous who hasn't yet discovered that the gate was left open...
I just love you, Megan and I love how you write.
It's not that she's better, it's that she's funny. Take this passage:
"But here I sit, slack. bent over. cheek to key board, arms slack at my sides. having a bit of performance anxiety."
She would have made that funny--comical.
Stick with what you do best, and no one will compare.
