Here we have her Saturday ensemble for a trip to the zoo accompanied by a certain pose insouciante she adopted when I told her it was too warm for a hat, too cold for a swimsuit, the world too bitter for cherry leg warmers no matter the weather.
Later, when I crept into her room that night this is what I found... All the world a ball to balance on her nose for a time. (My heart styrofoam wet and heavy, & so I kissed the plum of her eyes and let myself be swallowed whole.)
Sweet Dreams,
S

Dude, Zoey is so totally rocking outfit number one. I love it. And, when I scrolled down to the next picture I literally laughed out loud. xo
My daughter (6) just wandered by and said "she looks pretty in that bathing suit". See?
And congratulations on "pose insouciante" - an excellent phrase and so appropriate.
so ridiculously awesome. the falling asleep with a nose on? my heart just exploded a bit. all over my screen.
Okay, I had to Google Translate, and I came up with "carefree pose." Sweet. That nose just kills me!
Today's my birthday. Can you write something cool for me? Dance!, monkey, DANCE!
xo
That first pic of her is great. I love the outfit, but the pose is even better. What an amazingly beautiful little girl you have.
She definitely wears that outfit well! Love the red nose, such a precious picture!
ok, that outfit is so fucking good i need to show it to my 5 year old and tell her..BE MORE LIKE ZOEY!
mine rocks the mismatched socks and leotard over the jeans though like nobody can.
your thoughts at the end there made me cry a little.
OH SUSANNAH...
Love it...this post just brightened my day! That girl of yours...yep, definitely something special...hold on tight! Have a great week!
your daughter is coolest. evah.
Thanks to Zoe for giving me ideas for some vacation outfits.
The swimsuit/hat/leg warmers is going to be so hot 2010.
Those pictures are so super sweet. She is totally rocking that bathing suit and leg warmers. If anyone call pull it of it's Ms. Zoey!
Oh and I feel so good right now! Zoey and I have the same bedding. Tell Zoey thanks for making me smile today!
Um, I kind of want to wear that to work tomorrow. She is heart-melting.
I love Zoey's style! That outfit is 'bananas!'
ok, i need to take some fashion tips from your daughter...
I'm a fellow April '06 Mom and I love following your girl's antics! She is so different from my boy! Those pictures just killed me. That girl has flair! My son couldn't care less about what he wears. It makes me smile to see her expressing herself through her fashion!
oh my, those eyelashes...
Thank you everyone. I think we could all take style tips from Zoey and every other three year old in the world, i.e. own it and yourself. :)
xoxo,
S
own it, wear it. ANYTHING is possible with confidence and she seems to have it!
I don't know what this means:
"(My heart styrofoam wet and heavy, & so I kissed the plum of her eyes and let myself be swallowed whole.)"
In what way is your heart like styrofoam? How can styrofoam be "wet"? How can it be "heavy"? How can her "eyes" (plural) have one "plum" (singlular)? I know this is meant to be poetic, but the images have to have a credibility to them before they can be understood metaphorically.
If the whole post had been surreal, these "heart like wet heavy styrofoam" comparisons might work, but in the context of the rest of the post, they seem random and arbitrary, like Mad Libs.
So adorable! My three year old daughter is such a fashionista too. I have no idea who she gets it from.
what a beautiful post.
My heart is melting...what a little doll. Don't those moments just take your breath away?
That outfit is, without a doubt, the most fierce thing I have ever seen.
