Quasizozo

That's it, I am putting my daughter on Proactiv. Accutane if that doesn't work. Because for the last few days she's had this horrible rash all over her face, arms and legs. Raised angry welts--she looks like Quasimodo, the teenage years. I am sure this is fine parenting-- I mean, I once heard that Britney Spears whitened Sean Preston and Evinrude's teeth, or whatever that youngest kid is named.
But seriously, we just got back from the pediatrician who said Zoey has a bad case of viral hives, implying there is such a thing as a good case of viral hives. Gah. He armed us with Aveeno Anti-Itch cream and sent us on our way, which seems to me like telling a cancer patient to take two aspirins and not call him in the morning, but what do I know? Apparently not much, but I do know this: we simply cannot be cooped up in this house on a sunny January day any longer. This afternoon I am going to spackle Zoey's hives with some Mac tranny foundation and take her to the park, much to the hairy stink eye of other mother's everywhere. Today, my little noble savage and I are going out in the big bad world to ring some bells.
But for you, I give you this--a dancing EsmeraldaZo in happier times, i.e. last Friday night:

Dude, I wear MAC foundation! Does that make me a tranny?
Whatever, hives and all, that's one cute kid. I love the skull and crossbones hanging on her crib. A child after my own heart. This really made me smile when I was feeling down :-)

When I had something similar last year, tanning was the only thing that provided relief. Probably not an option for the little one, but maybe spend some bikini time in the sun together?

Aww! Being itchy sucks! And so does having weird spots! But sunshine is AWESOME - and here in snowy Canada - I'm feeling very wistful of the sunny days of summer!

Something that's awesome for little Zoey's itchy hives is an oatmeal bath. Aveeno is oatmeal based - so it's along the same premise. Pop some oats (like rolled oats) into a ziplock, poke some holes in it (small-ish - you don't want to have to strain the bath water after) and run her a nice warm bath! This is, quite possibly, one of the most soothing home remedies EVER! Works for chicken pox, too!

Have fun in the sun!

arghhh. total bummer. Ruby is always getting skin stuff, and the doc always gives me the Aveeno line. Last week, I finally took her to a dermatologist who gave me corizone cream and her big itchy welts were gone in an hour. you just let me know if you need the good stuff - I got it.

OMG You're cat is HUGE!

My daughter gets the same thing - usually as a precursor to getting sick. I give her Benadryl to help the itching - I haven't found that anything topical really helps her out. Good luck!

I need to know where that head band is from - crossing fingers it would fit on my adult sized head - here's hoping!

Hi Sarah Danielle,
The headband is J Crew kids, or Crew Cuts, whatever they call it. But it fits on my Charlie Brown shaped head so I'm sure it will fit on yours! They have even newer, cuter ones, too!

All of a sudden she looks different to me. Older. More little girl and less toddler. I'm slightly devastated by it all.

She's still gorgeous, though.

That video is ADORABLE!

Zoey and my peanuts could go on tour together. Payton has a mean voice and Addi likes to dance on platforms. With Zo's dancing skills and fashion sense they could be the next big thing. We could pay them in Hello Kitty underoos and goldfish crackers. Yes!

I totally see why you want another baby. She is perfect, of course. But also, she is a little girl - not babyish anymore. Someone once told me being a parent is like being in a constant state of heartbreak, and I am starting to get it. I watch that and get excited for the day when Micah can dance and sing and spin - but also freak out because it is already going too fast, ya know?

You sure know how to turn a rash into cash with that dance.. she could make a lotta money dancing on "so ya think ya can dance."

hate it when it's a weird thing and it doesn't go away pronto! But for the "other mothers"and their kids I gotta ask--is it contagious? I'll take a cup of cuteness but not a rash :)

Just an update to let you know Zoey's rash is gone. Or the Zyrtec is working. Whatever it is, we're both much happier.

And just to clarify--her doctor said she was not contagious, especially through the computer monitor. So stop itching. :)

Thank you!
