November 4th, 2008

This photo goes out to all of those that say blogging is narcissistic.

Because, dude. I only took 32 shots before I got one that didn't make me look too cockeyed, too old, or too come-hither. What can I say? I was going for just the right amount of an old, cockeyed, come-hither stare.
In other news: I have fallen in love. With you. And you and you and you. It would seem that I am a slut and it's true. Me + the football team, sure, as long as there is a me + you, too. As I sit here at my makeshift desk/kitchen table I practice writing my name if we were to get married: Susannah Clay MaggieMay, Susannah Clay Melissa, Susannah Clay BeachBungalow8, Susannah Clay Anonymous 1 through 9. If you don't see your name on that list, never fear. My heart belongs to all of you and I'd totally let you feel me up beneath the bleachers if you so much as tried, True Love Always and Forever, over or under my bra, it's no matter. Because it is you I will look for on the dance floor when they play Stairway to Heaven. It is you.

You who pulled me out of my funk, you with your comments. You who offered me a place to live, a publisher, an idea, a ((((hug)))). You who made me smile. You who gave me hope.
And that is what I felt today when I went down to vote. Shit, you all know for whom and what I voted, it's no secret. But what I didn't know is that I'd also be voting for myself. Susannah Clay Me in 2008, X marks the spot. I cast my ballot for change. Yes We Can, Yes I Can, Change We Need and Change I Must.
Happy Election Day.
With Love from the Other Side,
Susannah

YAY! I loved every second of voting this morning. Now I will sit with baited breath. I am so glad to hear you are feeling better. But here's another (((hug))) anyway. Just in case you need it for later...

So good to hear that you are feeling better. Great pic!

You have really nice eyebrows.

Yay Obama!

I fully realize that your post comes in the midst of a really tough time for you, and that you genuinely appreciate the support from all your blog girlfriends, and also that voting is a serious thing, but I must take a moment to be incredibly superficial: your eyebrows look REALLY good in the pic.

OH CRAP, Zakary beat me to it. Damn you!!!!!!!

Wow, so glad I'm not the only superficial one who noticed how great your brows are! You're in LA, right - where do you get them done?

Sigh - delurking for brows. Desperate times...

Holy arched eyebrow! I had no idea my brows were comment-worthy. Seriously--I was the girl who took a razor to them in the 7th grade because they were SO bushy, SO Bert & Ernie. Now here's the kicker--I pluck them myself. I've never had them "done" except the one time I had them dyed.

My poor Zo has the same brows. You can already see the peach fuzz meeting in the middle...

Anyway, thanks for the compliments! Off to stare at my eyebrows in the mirror now... (while listening to election results).

Susannah-I pluck Zoe's uni-brow and I have since she was 4. I am afraid she will get teased!

I felt I was too far back in line to offer you a hug before, but since I am about commenter number 15 I think you might have room for me now.
Here it is:
((((((((((((((hug))))))))))))))))
It might be lopsided, but still counts, right?

ps you're pretty

OMG- what FABULOUS eyebrows you have.
And, after I just wrote that- I did a quick scroll and realized I wasn't the first to mention it. Which actually makes me feel good because I didn't want you to think I didn't read the blog- only looked at the pictures.BTW- you're going to make it after all.

another post--but after another look at the brows- I've GOT IT! Sela Ward. Yes, you have Sela Ward's eyebrows. I'm so lame.

Sweetheart, you are beautiful and talented and have the cutest child I think I've ever seen. I stumbled across your blog several months ago (I don't know how I got here - must have been the wine-infused web-surfing) and have been entertained as you have shared your struggles with great wit and terrific story-telling skills.

I felt bad for not writing encouragement the last time you were in the ditch. CHANGE IS GOOD! I'm going to make some serious change myself at 57 and move to the reddest state of them all, TEXAS, to be with the love of my life. I'm leaving my beloved state of Florida (which may possibly be a BLUE state for the first time in my life!), because change is good, and after breast cancer, really, what am I waiting for.

I predict wonderful things for you, when there's hope, there's HOPE!!! Don't succumb to the demons, there is so much potential greatness waiting for you.

If I'm wrong about the results - I may be commenting from Costa Rica!

Much love, Joanne

BEST FRICKIN EYEBROWS EVER!
Proud to say I voted at 7am, number 42 in my little burg. For all you Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy fans, remember that 42 is the answer to the universe. Therefore, Obama will --SMACK--sorry I just hit myself so I wouldnt jinx anything.

Glad you're feeling better. You know I feel sad when you're sad. I feel glad when you're glad (barry manilow, was that? He has fairly good eyebrows too.)

(HUG) and there's more where that came from.

Oh, and the brows???? I think we've all elected them President of these United States!

WAHOOOOOO! Glad to hear it, dollface!

We like you happy (actually we LOVE you happy) but just so you know, we love you pretty much any way that you are... happy, sad, gorgeous, frustrated, hilarious, and even bitchy (especially bitchy).

You shine no matter what. Your words and your brows are unending encouragement to me (who knew brows could be so fab?!), and I can't wait to hear where life takes you next!

(Oh, and lest you think that I am merely echoing the brow-praise, I SWEAR on my "I voted" sticker that they were the very first thing I noticed in the picture, and I proceeded to study them carefully before I even read the posts or any of the comments. So there.)

Susannah, that was the most incredible gift ever! I am so overjoyed right now. My 27th birthday will certainly be one I will never forget. Thanks for the birthday wishes! XOXO

I am not sure how you ALWAYS manage to make me laugh and cry at the same time (sometimes in the same sentence) but you do. Any book you write will be successful because you are so raw in that way...anyone can relate to you since you say the things they always wish they could and you are afraid to go there.

As a side note if there is someone with furry yet surprised eyebrows on your doorstep tomorrow morning it will be me...anonymous 10 (I think we are up to 10 now?). And while I didn't shave my eyebrows I did cut my widows peak in the 6th grade, leaving a handsome reverse Alfafa-esc patina to all my old school pics.

Correction to above...should be 'NOT afraid to go there'...gotta love a celebratory glass of champagne! ;) clink

I hope that ice cream was as sweet as this victory was! We all have work to do, but things are looking up, aren't they? Change, we know, is good!

...love you back! it's so amazing to see little petunia face girl in your eyes...i'm a big eyebrow girl too...the fabulous-girl-beauty ship has sailed for me though...i was a model (I know - ack!) in the 80's (I know - double ack!) - only runway though ...too flawed up close...now..hanging on tight: plane/noisedive/sephora-mother-ship/make-it-last-please-please) but still...trying hard to find my beauty in something other than That Kind of Beauty (which never resulted in anything good)...know what i mean?

What can it be?

Oh.

Right.

It's this...you...your dad...us on this crazy web...friends... talking about stuff...babies...yay!

Thanks for giving me Something Else. Something Good.
