Okay, I was WEEPING when I saw this on the news last night. ABOUT DAMN TIME!
Isn't it grand?
Six good friends who happened to be same sex couples got married today. In total, these three couples had been with their mates for 63 years. Today they finally were able to pledge to each other in matrimony- lawfully in this State. What a gloriously, historic day it was-for them and for all of us. Sadly, it took this long for them to be able to do so. Ironically, it was big news. Shamefully, they do not have Federal endorsement so they can't file taxes as a married couple, they can't access each other's Social Security benefits-or any Federal benefits of matrimony-like Family Medical Leave Act, etc.. Outside of CA, they can't be at each other's bedside in an ICU. And, as delighted as they are that this day has finally come, they all know that the gay-bashing will be ramped up because of this victory for human rights. And still I heard them each say that this was the best day in their lives. Thank you for recognizing what a joyous, landmark day this is for so many people...people of ALL persuasions. And a HUGE congratulations to all those who waited and loved and fought to be recognized as married.
Seriously... what a great thing. I am coming back out for a wedding in September and all I can say is, IT'S ABOUT TIME!!!

This is a shining example for the closed minded religious right to possibly "get it"! As my 6 year old daughter says "love is love".

I totally agree. It is about time the rest of the country followed suit!
how anyone could see photos like these and hear these stories of love and partnership and then possibly come to a conclusion that this could be a negative thing for society (especially amongst all the other such horrible things going on!?) is beyond me.

I would really love to hear their comments (as a gay man). More specifically, everyone FOR it can offer up the WHY they are glad as we see here - people opposed to it always seem to just say 'because' or have no reasoning behind it (cough, cough, MCcain, cough)

Things like this keep reminding me why I'm so lucky to live in this great city, and why there's still hope for this country.
