The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

First the Good:
Which is not so much good as it is great. Not even great, it's fabulous. Mother-effin awsome oh I'm sohappyiamforgettingallpunctuationexceptanannoyingpittypatofexclamationpoints!!!!!!!!!! My mammogram came back NORMAL! I made an adorable video of Zoey eating a celebratory cupcake and announcing the news that her mommy has healthy boobies, but apparently God does not want to bless me with healthy breasts and speedy internet connectivity in one day so it would not upload. Believe me, I'll take healthy boobies over fast internet connection any day of the week.
Which leads me to the Bad:
Hurricane Ike. A lot of my favorite bloggers seem to live in the Houston area or Texas at large so let me just say this: my thoughts are with you as you hunker down.
And what good would The Good & The Bad be without The Ugly?

Truthfully I didn't really have an ugly so I found this image on the internet. I think we can all agree that this pooch is a tad bit aesthetically challenged, no?
So there you go. Feel your boobies. Wait for the winds to pass. And then, uh, gnaw on your toenails? I dunno.' Shitty post this one, but I'm just giddy with my boobs right now.
Happy Friday!

I'm de-lurking for a moment to say: YAY, YAY, YAY for a clean bill of health. Love your blog...I always look forward to your posts.

Shitty post? Methinks not. Loverly post. So happy for you and your boobies!

Hey Susannah -- I too am de-lurking today (well, I e-mailed you once before about our parallel lives) to say how happy I am for your good news. I've been thinking positive thoughts for you the past few days, and will be doing so for those in Ike's path tonight. And let's add the poor people on the commuter train in LA too.

Oh, and by the way, your 9/11 post yesterday was amazing. You say so many things that I think and feel, but in a way I never could. Take good care of yourself and your family!

I am glad your tests came back ok. I wanted to write this post before but I did not want to jinx you. I am a general surgeon so I see lots of women with breast disease. But I also see way too many women with no breast disease at all referred by dermatologists and other random medical specialists and all of these women are scared shitless that they have cancer. I guess what I'd like to remind your readers--you wouldn't take decorating advice from your yard man, or let your dentist fix your car. Consider the source and realize that most physicians (with the exception of general surgeons who of course know everything about everything) only know more than you do about their particular specialty. So don't freak out. Do your breast exams, get your mammograms, and go see a general surgeon if you really think there is something wrong with your breasts.

BTW, thanks for your posts--you give me something to ponder while I watch Bravo reality tv, eat dark chocolate and drink wine after the girls are in bed...

Congrats! I know that feeling well. :)

can't I just comment? said...

ok - delurking here - love your posts and follow you all the time. God bless the all clear diagnosis. Have been living with the breast exams every 6 months months now since going through fertility treatments and unclear mammograms and THANK YOU to your anonymous General surgeon who made me feel 100% better (not that this was about me!) as my OBGYN was tired of the "come back in 6 months" routine and referred me to a general surgeon. (Runnnn on sentence!) Although I still have no clear consensus it is likely nothing (just not consistent with the other breast) - something that we will follow. (Ahhh more waiting :))

Your posts are so enjoyable- I just must tell you - I have 2 grown children and 2 little ones - so our demographics couldn't be further apart - but I can relate to so much - thanks for the daily pleasures! And at the risk that I am writing a small novel I will bid you adeui! (sp?)

"Save the titties!" and there was a pink ribbon on it. Cute.

I just was referred to your blog from a friend and playing around on this gloomy day I thought I would take a peak. I about fell out of my chair when the first image I saw was the breast cancer sign. I just had a mammogram on Wednesday and the results came back abnormal. Going in on Monday for an MRI. I am "scared shitless" as one of your friends say in their comments. Thanks for lifting my spirits...I think it's good karma :)

I am glad the boobs are doing well!

And, well, we were going to hunker down. Then at about 10:30 Thursday, Kenny flipped on the TV, said, "That thing is huge!" (okay, actually I edited a lot of naughty words out of that), and we left for my parents' house. We stayed in Austin for the storm, and judging by our friends' accounts of how not fun it was, I am glad we did. Now we are back dealing with the aftermath....
